EASTER BY ISAIAH: An Infinite Creator, Our Strong Hope!

Have you not known?

Have you not heard?

The LORD is the everlasting God,

the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary,

and his understanding no one can fathom. *

"Earthrise"

from Apollo 8

1968

Along with the rest of the world, we suffer under the deathly scourge of the coronavirus. Yet Christians also celebrate Christ’s redeeming sacrifice and his resurrection from the dead. Those historical events point us to the Creator of all reality and give hope.

Let us learn about the one true God from the prophet Isaiah:

The LORD is the everlasting God.

1. There is no TIME when he didn’t exist. He is eternal.

The Creator of the ends of the earth.

2. There is no PLACE where he isn’t present. He is omnipresent.

He does not faint or grow weary.

3. There is no ABILITY he doesn’t possess. He is omnipotent.

His understanding is unsearchable.

4. There is no KNOWLEDGE he doesn’t comprehend. He is omniscient.

Please don’t read these divine attributes as abstract theories or idle speculations about some “higher power.” We live in God’s world, so his character and ways must be the foundation of our worldview—and the fountain of our hope. Amazingly, he shares his own strength with weak and needy people like us.

He gives strength to the weary

and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary,

and young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the LORD

will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles;

they will run and not grow weary,

they will walk and not be faint.

If you have entrusted your life to the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior and King, may you be renewed every day by the God of Resurrection. May you be so transformed in him that you do what seems impossible (soar like eagles), and meet the occasional extreme challenges of life (run), and above all, persevere and never give up when you face life’s daily trials (walk). Christ is Risen! Blessings to you this Easter and always!
